a focus on long-term recovery
Whether transitioning from an inpatient program, outpatient program, or medical detox, reentry into the normal flow of life is often the first challenge facing alcoholics and addicts in early recovery. Residential sober living can be a valuable support system for people in early sobriety. Our sober living residences offer a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where clients can develop, through experience, the skills they need to maintain their sobriety and live a fulfilling life. (Pets are allowed on a case by case basis.)
Tenley House (Men), Tenley Apartments (Men), and Irene's Place (Women) are located in the Tenleytown neighborhood of Washington, DC. All of our clinical services are provided in offices adjacent to our residences.
On-site house managers offer 24/7 safety and support for all residents and act as guides, helping clients form bonds in the community and build a solid foundation in recovery. We recommend a minimum of three months of involvement in sober living, but there is no limit on how long clients can stay with us. Research indicates that sober living dramatically reduces relapse over a six-month period.
Sober living is a significant commitment for anyone however, our experience shows that clients who stay with us develop skills and form bonds that have a profound effect on their lives for years to come.
